I found a new hobby/profession

Written by Deb Zavoyna on Wednesday, January 09 2013 Posted in Bizarre, Funny, Inspired

I have a new hobby or profession.  It’s true.  In addition to reading, exercising, spending time with family and friends, cooking (stop laughing Gregory!), decorating and redecorating my home, and spending time outside, I have added a new hobby.

I am a squirrel photographer.

Not many people can say that.  Do you know any squirrel photographers?  Seriously.  Name one.  I’d love to meet them.

Here’s how I stumbled upon this new hobby.  I went to the gym this morning (remember my Fresh Start List?  Losing 20lbs was on that list).  Anyway, went to the gym and got all worked out.  I had put my camera in the car before I went, with the idea that I’d go take some pictures if I could still lift my arms after being at the gym.  (R.I.P.P.E.D is hard people.  Google it.)  After all, I have this lovely new camera and IT needed to get a workout.

So off to the Promenade I went.  The Promenade is a 1/2 mile boardwalk along the Chesapeake Bay.  I figured I would walk the Promenade and take some pictures and just chill.  It was pretty sunny out and in the mid/upper 40’s (which turned out to be a little chilly, since I had gotten all sweaty working out).  I had in my mind that I would finally have a camera with me when I spotted a blue heron.  Almost every time I run on the boardwalk, I see a blue heron.

Did I see a blue heron today?  Of course not.  But I did see LOTS of birds, ducks, and geese.  But I gotta tell you, I really like squirrels.  They’re obviously cute.  They’re also curious.  And they look like furry little acrobats on telephone lines and trees.  And who doesn’t love a squirrel getting a nut?  C.U.T.E.

Here’s a few pictures I took.

Yes, I agree I needed to get closer to the squirrels in these pics.  I said I liked taking their pictures.  I don't want to cuddle with them.

As I was taking pictures, I stumbled across a guy taking pictures of birds.  I’m pretty sure his camera was 6 times the size of mine.  I definitely felt inferior with my little camera.  I hope his pictures suck.  (Kidding!)

I did take a bunch of other pics, which I’ll spare you from.  However, I liked this little seagull so I thought I’d share.

Make it a great day.  Friday Funnies tomorrow!!

Wow - I'm really impressed with your pictures! Love the first squirrel and the seagull! Great job! You are inspiring me to get my camera out and learn to use it! I think you should add "squirrel photographer" to your "about the author" - lol!
